SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - The former personal secretary to a Long Island highway superintendent who resigned last month is receiving $75,000 as part of a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Newsday reports ( ) Smithtown board members voted Tuesday to approve the settlement with 27-year-old Aimee-Lynn Smith.

Smith says in a December notice of claim that 64-year-old Glenn Jorgensen sexually harassed her and created a hostile work environment until he fired her in October 2014 after learning she was dating a highway department worker.

Smith’s attorney and the town’s attorney both declined to comment on the settlement.

Jorgensen denied the claims.

He pleaded guilty in state Supreme Court last month to charges in connection with falsifying documents involving a paving project.
