Jenny & Tyler

“Of This I’m Sure” (releases Oct. 16)

Residence Music

Husband-and-wife tag team Jenny & Tyler (Jenny Somers and Tyler Somers) of Nashville unveil a countryfied, melodious pop sensibility on this new disc for Residence Music. The titular song and “Song for You” start off the album on a reverential mode, with the latter track somehow simultaneously about aching for the person right next to you. “Beloved One” is as lovely as its name implies. Miss Somers takes center stage on the melodious “Where to Begin,” with Mr. Somers joining her on a refrain meditating on the mysteries of love. “Fly Away” is a hauntingly melancholic mulling on the possibilities of the future], and “To the Sea” is a fitting sendoff, both to the album and its contemplations.

The album is a tad monochromatic, with every song a ballad or love song of devotion, such as “You Are a Song.” Some variety in the tunes and timbres would be nice, but what they do, Jenny & Tyler do well.

Mr. and Miss Somers will be appearing in the District at Ebenezers Coffeehouse on Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $18 day-of. Visit Ebenezerscoffeehouse.com for more information.
