GAYLORD, Mich. (AP) - The former president and treasurer of a now-closed University of Michigan fraternity are scheduled for trial next month on misdemeanor charges related to a wild, booze-filled weekend at a ski resort.
Josh Kaplan and Zach Levin are charged with providing a place for minors to drink. The Michigan Daily reports (https://bit.ly/1PG7ELp ) a jury trial has been set for Nov. 18 in Gaylord.
Doors, furniture, fixtures and carpet were badly damaged at Treetops Resort in Dover Township and Boyne Highlands near Petoskey. Both are in northern Michigan.
Treetops estimated $430,000 in costs from the Jan. 17-18 vandalism. The Ann Arbor university called the vandalism “reprehensible” and shut down Sigma Alpha Mu. Two other former members of the fraternity earlier were sentenced to probation and restitution.
