ANALYSIS/OPINION:

America has always been a refuge for oppressed people. We willingly open our doors to those who want the opportunity to live peacefully in a country where freedom is valued.

Today, however, a new type of refugee has emerged from Syria and other war-torn countries in the Middle East. These are not the typical refugee families, but in many cases consist of young, aggressive males who are proving to be a detriment to the European countries (such as Germany and England) that allow them to enter. In fact, allegations of criminal activity in refugee camps already are emerging, with reports of rioting, assaults and even rape.

We are at war with Islamic fundamentalists. And while there may be many of the Muslim faith who wish us no harm, as in the case of the Japanese-Americans interned during World War II, it is impossible to reasonably separate peace-loving refugees from wolves in sheep’s clothing. Therefore, to open our borders to these refugees is not in the best interest of the American people.

President Obama took an oath to uphold the Constitution. He would do well to remember the purpose established in that great document, which is “in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic security, provide for the common defense … ” Mr. Obama, extending grace to potential terrorists is foolish.
