MINOT, N.D. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a former Minot State University football player and another man in the assault of the captain of MSU’s baseball team.

Aggravated assault warrants were issued Monday for 21-year-old former running back Kwame Johnson and for 22-year-old Steven Patrick. Police say the two were arrested on campus Thursday.

Court documents don’t list attorneys for them, and they didn’t immediately make initial court appearances. The charge against them is a felony that carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison.

Police say MSU outfielder/first baseman Keith Ailes was treated at a hospital for facial injuries after being assaulted Aug. 29 following an argument at a party.

MSU dismissed Johnson from the team after the incident and suspended indefinitely two other football players who have not been criminally charged.
