LAS VEGAS (AP) - Trial has been postponed until next July for the former mixed martial arts fighter named War Machine in an alleged attack last year on his porn actress ex-girlfriend and her friend in Las Vegas.

Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver’s attorney, Brandon Sua, told a judge on Monday that the defense wants to conduct independent forensic tests on knives found in alleged victim Christy Mack’s home.

The 33-year-old Koppenhaver had faced trial beginning next week on 33 felony charges including attempted murder, battery, sexual assault and coercion.

Clark County District Court Judge Elissa Cadish has rejected Sua’s request to challenge Nevada’s rape shield law and let the jury hear evidence of prior consensual sexual relations between Koppenhaver and Mack.

Mack is letting her name be used in reports about the criminal case.
