Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean said Friday he is no longer seeking to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Mr. Dean, who led the DNC from 2005 to 2009, made the announcement in a prerecorded video at the Association of State Democratic Chairs meeting in Denver, according to news reports.

The decision leaves Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, New Hampshire Democratic Chairman Ray Buckley and South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison vying for the job.
