JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman could spend up to 45 years in prison for stealing more than $18,000 from a school janitor who she also fatally stabbed.

Twenty-three-year-old Brianne Palmer, of Johnstown, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and felony theft in the August 2015 death of Rudolph Janisko.

A co-worker found his body after the 59-year-old maintenance worker didn’t show up for work at the Greater Johnstown School District for two days. He died of blood loss from his stab wounds.

Palmer apologized to Janisko’s family and her attorney says she was a heavy heroin user at the time of the crimes.

Police linked her to the crimes by finding Janisko’s blood on her shoe.

A Cambria County judge sentenced her to 22½ to 45 years in prison on Tuesday.
