BOSTON (AP) - A Toronto man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison after admitting to his role in a scheme to smuggle marijuana and the drug commonly known as ecstasy to a dealer in Massachusetts.
Authorities say 40-year-old David Nguyen was sentenced in Boston on Monday. He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute MDMA and marijuana, as well as money laundering conspiracy.
Authorities say Nguyen worked with others from February 2010 to March 2012 to smuggle drugs to Joshua Rabinovitch in Salem, Massachusetts. Rabinovitch sold the drugs and sent money to Nguyen and another Canadian man identified as Gurshuran Singh.
Rabinovitch has been sentenced to two years in prison in the scheme.
Singh has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced next year.
