PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man has been charged with murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, who was found unresponsive in a Philadelphia home last month.

Twenty-one-year old Rimear Custis was charged Wednesday over the boy’s death. No attorney information is available in online court documents.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the city’s Kensington section just before midnight on Nov. 29 following reports that a toddler was unresponsive.

The boy, Zyair Worrell, was rushed to a hospital and died.

An exam revealed Zyair suffered a lacerated liver, bruising to his chest and ear and an abrasion over his eye. The toddler also tested positive for THC, the main psychoactive component in marijuana.

The cause of death hasn’t been announced.

The boy’s mother was with endangering the welfare of a child.
