SMITHFIELD, N.C. (AP) - Two men being held in the Wake County jail have now been charged with murder in a robbery at a convenience store in Johnston County earlier this year.
Johnston County sheriff’s spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said in a news release Thursday that 23-year-old Omari Alexander Smith and 28-year-old Darius Dontae Mccalston, both of Raleigh, have been charged with murder.
Twenty-nine-year-old Esmail Al Shami was found dead at a store south of Zebulon on the night of Oct. 27. Fifty-one-year-old Ricky Lynch was wounded in the robbery.
Investigators say Smith and Mccalston got $200 in the robbery.
It was not known if Smith and Mccalston have attorneys.
