RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno police have arrested a 45-year-old man accused of attempting to murder his roommate.

Celestin Tappin was being held without bail Thursday in the Washoe County Jail. He’s been booked on suspicion of attempted murder, mayhem, battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery causing substantial injury and disturbing the peace.

Police say Tappin had blood on his body when he arrived at his father’s home on the edge of downtown at about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday and started making statements about a murder at his own home a few blocks away.

Police later found Tappin’s 51-year-old male roommate lying semi-conscious and severely beaten in the residence they shared on Stewart Street.

Police say the victim was taken to a Reno hospital where he was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. His name has not been released.
