MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A former police officer in Melrose, Massachusetts, is accused of stealing a truck he took for a test drive from a New Hampshire dealership.

Investigators say 46-year-old Derek Guthro claimed to be a Massachusetts state trooper when he took the truck from Team Nissan of Manchester on Monday.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2inrHQQ) that officers in Melrose who saw media reports about the incident identified Guthro, and police were able to track him to an address in Nashua on Thursday. The truck was found in a nearby restaurant parking lot, and Guthro was charged with theft and false impersonation.

A phone number for Guthro could not be found Friday, and it’s unclear whether he has an attorney. He’s due in court Jan. 20.
