CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say one person is dead after an early morning crash in Chesapeake.

Police say the wreck occurred just after midnight on Sunday when 51-year-old Brian Wade Ray drove his Dodge Caravan off the road on Interstate 664 at Route 58 and struck a guardrail. Police say Ray was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, then struck by another car that left the scene.

Ray was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say they are investigating whether alcohol played a role in the wreck. The incident is still under investigation.
