Actor Judge Reinhold was released from a Dallas jail Friday morning after the “Beverly Hills Cop” star spent several hours in police custody as a result of being arrested at a local airport for disorderly conduct.

Mr. Reinhold, 59, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he caused a scene at a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint inside Dallas Love Field airport, the Dallas Police Department said in a statement.

TSA officials contacted Dallas Police at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday “regarding an individual causing a disturbance by refusing to submit to a screening at the appropriate checkpoint area,” the statement said. “The officers responded and subsequently took the individual into custody after he refused to comply.”

Steve Stodghill, an attorney for the actor, said Mr. Reinhold had successfully cleared a TSA scanner at Love Field but was then stopped after his bag set off an alarm, the Dallas Morning News reported. TSA officials reportedly insisted on subjecting Mr. Reinhold to a secondary search when he began acting “antagonistic toward officers,” authorities told the newspaper.

Mr. Reinhold reportedly became belligerent during the incident and used explicit language, according to a local ABC affiliate, WFAA.

Later Thursday afternoon, the actor thanked members of the media as television cameras rolled while he was escorted into jail.

“Thanks for the exposure, guys,” Mr. Reinhold told reporters. “Glad you’re here.”

Mr. Reinhold posted bond early Friday and was released from jail not long after midnight. A WFAA photojournalist reported that the actor was friendly and apologetic upon exiting the facility and said he was embarrassed over the whole ordeal.

An official statement from the actor was forthcoming, his attorney said.

Born Edward Reinhold, the Wilmington, Delaware, native has appeared in dozens of movies and television shows since landing his first major film role in 1982’s “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” He went on to portray Detective Billy Rosewood in the “Beverly Hills Cop” trilogy alongside Eddie Murphy and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 1994 for a guest spot on “Seinfeld.”
