Rick Santorum has suspended his 2016 presidential bid, according to multiple media reports.

Mr. Santorum will both leave the race and make an endorsement, likely making the announcement Wednesday night on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” CNN reported.

The former Pennsylvania senator won the Iowa caucuses in 2012 but has been unable to capture that momentum this time around, finishing second-to-last in the crowded Republican field Monday night. Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore finished last with 12 votes.

Mr. Santorum had been relegated to the undercard debates due to his low poll ratings.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul also announced he was dropping out of the GOP race Wednesday to focus on his re-election to the Senate.

• Editor’s note: Political reporter Kelly Riddell’s husband, Frank Sadler, was the campaign manager for Republican presidential contender Carly Fiorina.
