The new Wonder Woman trailer went viral on Twitter over the weekend, but while most users couldn’t get enough of Gal Gadot as the immortal Amazonian princess, some blasted the Israeli-born actress by virtue of her nationality.

“The trailer for the June 2017 release immediately went viral and easily became the most-discussed preview last week on Twitter, according to data analytics firm ListenFirst Media,” noted the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.

But some of the reaction was less than favorable, and not out of concern for the artistic merits of the production, as both Breitbart and Heat Street reported on Monday.

“Gadot spent two years of mandatory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, where she excelled so much in boot camp that she became a combat trainer” prior to her career in modeling and acting, Heat Street noted.

That was enough for some left-wing critics on Twitter to express their disdain for the Israeli movie star, many of them complaining about Ms. Gadot being a “Zionist.”

“Simply searching ‘Gadot Zionist’ on Twitter will reveal dozens of tweets against the actress, with some users even declaring a boycott on Gadot’s work, and expressing hope that the film gets cancelled,” reported Breitbart.

“This kind of dog whistle anti-Semitism so popular with SJWs probably won’t make a big a splash in the media, as male trolls aren’t the perpetrators,” Heat Street argued.
