Fans of ABC’s canceled show “Nashville” will be able to find out what happened to Juliette Barnes after all. The drama has been picked up for a fifth season by CMT, Entertainment Weekly reported Friday, citing sources at the production studio, Lionsgate Television Group.

“What’s not yet entirely clear,” Entertainment Weekly said, “is to what extent stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere will be participating in the CMT version of the series. Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs has said previously the stars are ‘essential’ to the show’s continuation, but the cast deals have not yet been struck.

On their corporate website, Lionsgate promoted the #BringBackNashville Twitter campaign and a Change.org petition titled “Renew Nashville for season 5” which garnered nearly 175,000 signatures and was delivered to executives at CMT, Hulu, Netflix, TNT, AMC, Amazon, NBC, CBS and ABC.

“Nashville” joins “Supergirl” — moving to the CW from CBS — as a ratings-troubled fan favorite saved from extinction by a move to a cable network.
