Actress and Fox News commentator Stacey Dash on Wednesday said transgender people should go to the bathroom “in the bushes” if they are uncomfortable using facilities regulated by biological sex.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight about her criticism of Caitlyn Jenner, Ms. Dash said her children should not be imperiled by laws granting access to intimate facilities on the basis of gender identity.

“It’s tyranny by the minority,” Ms. Dash said. “Why do I have to suffer because you can’t decide what you wanna be that day?”

When the reporter countered that transgender people do not have a choice in which gender they identify as, Ms. Dash rebutted: “OK, then go in the bushes.”

“I don’t know what to tell you, but I’m not gonna put my child’s life at risk because you want to change a law. So that you can be comfortable with your beliefs – which means that I have to change my beliefs and my rights? No.”

The U.S. Department of Justice has sued North Carolina over its law regulating public facilities on the basis of biological sex, saying the legislation violates federal antidiscrimination law.

President Obama issued an order last month compelling public schools nationwide to permit bathroom and locker room use on the basis of gender identity, or risk losing federal education funding. Eleven states have sued the Obama administration over the precept.
