Larry Drake, the multiple Emmy-winning character actor best known for “L.A. Law,” was found dead Thursday afternoon, TMZ reported. He was 66.

The entertainment site reported that Mr. Drake was found at his Hollywood home by a friend and pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Drake’s best known role was as Benny Stulwicz, an intellectually-disabled clerk at the titular Los Angeles law office. He won Emmy awards for best supporting actor in a drama series in consecutive years, 1988 and 1989.

He had no movie or TV acting credits more recent than 2008 on Wikipedia or the Internet Movie Database.

TMZ reported that he had dropped out of the profession but was working as an acting coach.
