BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A 40-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend’s three-year-old daughter will not face trial this week.
The Birmingham News reports (https://bit.ly/2evbMyn) the case was set to begin a trial Monday, but Jefferson County Deputy District Attorney Mike Anderton filed an order asking for a continuance.
Jonathan Wayne Talley and his girlfriend, Misty Lynn Wright, pleaded not guilty in May to their separate counts of capital murder.
Indictments against the couple stated that they intentionally caused the death of Jettie Ray Adams in August, 2015.
A new date for Talley’s trial has not been set. Wright’s trial is scheduled for the week of Nov. 14.
