FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A former community college police officer has been awarded $2.45 million by a Massachusetts jury in her sexual harassment lawsuit.

The Standard-Times of New Bedford (https://bit.ly/2fdCc83 ) reports that Susan Ledoux’s lawsuit detailed years of harassment at the hands of fellow Bristol Community College police officers and administration officials.

A Bristol Superior Court judge rejected the defense’s motion for a summary judgment in March.

Fact-finding found that male officers treated Ledoux poorly for years because she’s a woman.

One male officer spread the false rumor that Ledoux was having an affair with the chief. Ledoux suffered a nervous breakdown as a result.

The college issued a statement that said it is “extremely disappointed” by the verdict and that left the door open for an appeal.
