ATLANTA (AP) - Police say an East Atlanta Village resident was killed upon walking in on a burglary inside his apartment.

Atlanta police Lt. Charles Hampton tells news outlets that the unidentified man was shot Monday afternoon at the upscale Alexan EAV apartments after arriving at his home with a friend and finding the door ajar.

Police say the victim and the suspect got into an altercation, leading the suspect to shoot the victim, who died at the scene.

The gunman got away, but police released a photo of a man they want to question. Investigators weren’t sure if the man is a suspect or just a passer-by.
