MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Horry County say a man accused in the death of a Coastal Carolina University student who was killed while trying to cross a road is now facing additional charges.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/2fC2iG1) Lt. Selena Small of the Conway Police Department said 31-year-old Edward Lee Washington is now charged with hit and run, duties of driver involved in accident with death. He already faced multiple charges, including felony driving under the influence.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said Ryan Bielawa of Averill Park, New York, was trying to cross S.C. 544 near an apartment complex last Saturday when he was hit by a vehicle and killed.

Washington is jailed on a $76,234 bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
