MIAMI (AP) - An investigation is underway after police officers opened fire on a fleeing vehicle during a traffic stop near Miami.

No one was injured during the incident that unfolded Monday night. In a news release, Miami-Dade police said officers tried to stop a Cadillac with a stolen license plate, but it refused to stop.

Officers followed the vehicle into an apartment complex. According to police, when the vehicle reached a dead end, the driver began pivoting it to make a U-turn, striking multiple cars in the parking lot. That’s when officers discharged their guns.

Eventually the car stopped and police arrested the 20-year-old driver.

The names of the driver and the officers haven’t been released. The suspect is white. One officer is white, the other black.
