ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - A St. Joseph man is charged in the killing of a 74-year-old man in a case that detectives also investigated as a burglary.

The St. Joseph News-Press (https://bit.ly/2f9swfV ) reports that 23-year-old Justin Paul Appleberry was charged Monday in Buchanan County with second-degree murder in the death of Louis Nold. No attorney is listed for Appleberry in online court records.

Buchanan County Sheriff Mike Strong says deputies responded Sunday night to a reported shooting and found Nold. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Appleberry was arrested in DeKalb County less than two hours after deputies arrived at Nold’s home.
