NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma forward Dante Buford has been suspended for the first three games of the season.

The school made the announcement in a news release Saturday.

The release said the NCAA suspended Buford after he received an extra benefit for one of his complimentary tickets during last season’s NCAA Tournament.

Buford, a sophomore, averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds last season. He did not play in Oklahoma’s exhibition win over Washburn.

The Sooners open the regular season Sunday against Northwestern State.
