SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) - Court records in the case of a 16-year-old charged as a juvenile with murder in the death of his 14-year-old brother say the victim was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed with a knife.
The Springfield News-Sun (https://bit.ly/2f1XtSM) reports Clark County prosecutors described the victim’s injuries in documents filed with the juvenile court Wednesday seeking to try the 16-year-old suspect as an adult. A juvenile court hearing is scheduled for Thursday. A judge will appoint a lawyer for the teen.
Springfield Police Capt. Mike Hill said the victim was found dead Monday in the home the brothers shared. Their grandmother told a 911 dispatcher she found the 14-year-old in his bedroom that morning with a blanket over his face.
The Associated Press generally doesn’t name juveniles charged with crimes.
