COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Forward Jordan Morris has joined the U.S. injured list and will miss Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico.

A finalist for Major League Soccer rookie of the year, Morris strained a hamstring during Seattle’s playoff game against Dallas on Sunday. He was replaced on the U.S. roster Tuesday by 35-year-old LA Galaxy forward Alan Gordon.

Gordon made his U.S. debut in October 2012, entering in the 73rd minute and assisting on Eddie Johnson’s 90th-minute goal in a 2-1 win at Antigua and Barbuda in a World Cup qualifier. The only other international appearance for the 6-foot-3 attacker was when he entered in the second half of last year’s 2-1 loss to Jamaica in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The U.S. also is missing defender Geoff Cameron, midfielder Kyle Beckerman and forwards Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski. After opening the six-nation final round of the North and Central American and Caribbean region, the Americans play Tuesday at Costa Rica.
