BOSTON (AP) - Thousands of people are teaming up this weekend for a walk aimed at raising money to fight breast cancer.

The “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” event is being held Sunday in Boston. Walkers had a choice of routes: 2 miles or 5 miles.

It’s part of the American Cancer Society’s national campaign to get people to gather cash pledges to battle the disease.

Organizers say nearly 1.2 million people participated nationwide last year, and raised more than $60 million for breast cancer research.
