SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - The California Highway Patrol says a man was killed in a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles in Interstate 605 in Los Angeles County.

CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos says the initial report early Tuesday was of a car crashing into the center divider near Santa Fe Springs.

He says subsequent calls reported that up to five vehicles were involved, and at least one had burst into flames.

Villalobos says a man in his 40s died. There were no initial reports of injuries.

All southbound lanes of I-605 are expected to remain closed well into the morning commute during the cleanup and investigation.
