LOCKPORT, La. (AP) - Authorities say a Lockport man has been arrested for wearing a clown mask in an attempt to scare someone.

Lockport police said in a statement that 29-year-old Eric Gregoire was charged with wearing a mask outside of certain holidays during Saturday’s early morning incident.

Police say officers responded to a complaint about a man trying to scare another man while wearing a clown mask. The caller told police he was taking out the trash near a convenience store when a man wearing the mask jumped out and tried to scare him.

Authorities say a struggle ensued, during which the mask was removed, identifying the man as Gregoire.

Police say Gregoire admitted to wearing the clown mask, saying he wanted to “play a joke” on the man.
