TRENTON, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a mother and daughter whose bodies were found in a car in northwest Missouri died from a drug overdose and heat-related causes.

Twenty-four-year-old Elizabeth Lafolette and her 11-month-old daughter, Shannon Jeannoutot-Lafolette, were found dead July 16 inside the car at a McDonald’s in Trenton.

The St. Joseph News-Press reports (https://bit.ly/2eb3AmC ) the two were in the car for up to 12 hours before witnesses broke into the car.

Trenton Police Chief Tommy Wright says the deaths were ruled an accident. Officials declined to elaborate on what caused the mother’s overdose.
