BENTON, La. (AP) - Christmas came a little bit early for about 1,000 students in Bossier Parish schools.

That’s because this week, Simple Church - in partnership with international non-profit Samaritan Feet - gave away new shoes and supplies to those who need it.

KTBS-TV (https://bit.ly/2e4iEnn ) reports about 200 volunteers were at Bossier Elementary on Thursday to help hundreds of children. They washed their feet, gave them new socks, shoes, bags and supplies.

Community Pastor Bryan Reed says they hope this act of service has an impact on the children’s character. He says they hope that by giving to the students, one day when they’re older, they will turn around and serve others as well.

Last year Simple Church gave away more than a thousand shoes to students in Caddo Parish schools.
