BRIDGETON, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors say a New Jersey man has been convicted of murder in the death of a woman who had been beaten with hammer, kicked and dumped in a wooded area two years ago.
Cumberland County prosecutors say 36-year-old Omar Galvez, of Bridgeton, was convicted on Thursday of killing 29-year-old Jennifer Cruz-Chavez in Fairfield Township.
Galvez previously rejected a plea deal and now faces up to life in prison at his December sentencing.
Jose Martinez pleaded guilty in June under a plea deal to aggravated manslaughter in the woman’s death.
The 29-year-old Martinez is scheduled to be sentenced to 20 years behind bars next month if the court accepts his plea.
