BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The new bus station in downtown Burlington is now open for business.

The new Green Mountain Transit Center on St. Paul Street opened on Thursday.

The center includes heated benches, an indoor ticket window, free wireless internet and bright electronic monitors.

And Chapin Kaynor of the Green Mountain Transit Board of Commissioners says people waiting at the station will be able to see the location of their bus with their smartphones.

The station, which was built with help from $8 million in federal funding, will also serve as a transfer point for other bus companies such as Megabus and Greyhound.

The new St. Paul Street station replaces the nearby Cherry Street station that officials say was undersized when it opened more than 30 years ago.
