TULARE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a baby girl shot by her father while being held in her mother’s arms has died.

KFSN-TV in Fresno reported Monday (https://abc30.tv/2eJCIhF ) that 14-month-old Eva Zamora passed away Sunday.

On Thursday, police in Tulare say the 37-year-old father, Larry Zamora, shot the mother and child. He then barricaded himself in a nearby home in a standoff with officers that lasted several hours until he shot and killed himself.

The initial shooting happened during an argument between the man and woman.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says the girl’s mother remains in critical condition.

Authorities tell KFSN that the girl had been shot in the head. They had previously said that the girl was 9 months old.

They say the gunman was a known gang member with a violent history.
