SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico Supreme Court decision upholds a woman’s murder conviction in the shooting death of a teen-ager fatally shot by the woman’s boyfriend following a street fight in Hobbs.

Deandre Gonzales shot 16-year-old Daniel Garcia once in the head after retrieving his gun from Santana Serrano following a May 2014 fight between Gonzales and Garcia.

Bystanders’ cellphone videos of the incident were key evidence in the case against Serrano, and the state high court’s ruling this week said the video was properly introduced and that the prosecution didn’t err in highlighting portions of the video during closing argument.

Gonzales and Serrano were both convicted of with first-degree murder.
