RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. (AP) - A former Ravenswood High School band director has been sentenced to prison following a sex abuse case involving an underage student.

WCHS-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2ehEzZ8) Nathaniel Martin Corathers was sentenced Friday in Jackson County for sending explicit text messages and having sexual contact with a 15-year-old female band student.

Corathers received 10 to 20 years for sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, and two to 10 years for solicitation of a minor by a computer.

Court records show deputies met last October with the student’s parents, who had become concerned over text messages sent between their daughter and Corathers since the summer.

Deputies interviewed the girl, who said she sent nude photos to Corathers. She says the pair had been in a sexual relationship.
