NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Bill Clinton made a surprise visit Thursday to a Democratic campaign office in North Las Vegas to rally volunteers after the final presidential debate at UNLV.

Clinton told a crowd of about 60 people that it was “weird” that Donald Trump said he might not accept the outcome of the election and later said he would if he won.

“The truth is we don’t win every minute of every day,” Clinton told the audience, which squeezed into a room decked out with campaign posters for the impromptu rally. “What we want to do is live in a free and open country where there is equal opportunity, where people can give you a hand up when you fall down, and where we can all win together.”

The former president acknowledged that there’s too much economic inequality, poverty and wage stagnation, and he said his wife has the capacity to make it better.

He urged volunteers to make a positive case for her when they encounter hostility as they knock on doors and make the case for Democratic candidates.

“if you do run into these name-callers and angry people, do not respond in kind,” he said.

Clinton was introduced by Democratic U.S. House candidate Ruben Kihuen, who is seeking a seat that includes North Las Vegas.
