TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (AP) - Authorities say a driver who fled police during a traffic stop has died following a three-vehicle crash.

WVUE-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2enVMiQ) that Louisiana State Police say 21-year-old Darious Rashaad Ashton died Wednesday after being taken to a hospital.

Police say officers were attempting to pull over Ashton, when he refused to stop and continued driving. At some point, authorities say Ashton failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by another car, driven by 20-year-old Trey Thomas of Bogalusa.

Afterward, Ashton’s vehicle was hit by a dump truck, driven by 36-year-old Daniel Funderburk of Independence. Police say that Ashton was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Thomas was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Funderburk wasn’t hurt.
