PLAINFIELD, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say they suspect human remains found in Bremer County are those of a missing 76-year-old woman with dementia.
The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that the remains were discovered Wednesday afternoon by a farmer harvesting corn.
The sheriff’s office says an investigation strongly suggests the remains are those of Cloris Mehmen, who went missing July 5. The remains were found about a half mile from her home in Plainfield.
The sheriff’s office says a crime is not suspected in Mehmen’s death. An autopsy has been scheduled.
