GRANT-VALKARIA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities want to know who’s responsible for abandoning two dogs at a Brevard County home, where they were found malnourished, without food and with a limited water supply.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office tells news outlets that deputies discovered the dogs after a concerned neighbor reported to officials that they hadn’t seen the people living in the home for weeks.

Investigators found the dogs were left unattended and had no food. Officials say the only water they had was rusted and in dirty containers.

Neighbors say they didn’t know the people living there had pets. WKMG-TV reporters didn’t find anyone living in the residence.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey says they will identify, locate and arrest those responsible. He says both dogs will be nursed back to health and available for adoption.
