NEWTON, Mass. (AP) - Former U.S. Attorney Eric Holder will speak at Boston College as part of the school’s leadership series.

Holder’s speech is scheduled Thursday at the Robsham Theater. His presentation is titled, “Principled Leadership: The Courage to Face Challenge.”

Holder was the first black person to lead the Justice Department. During his 2009 to 2015 tenure, Holder defended the Obama administration’s legal right to use drone strikes when going after terrorists. In the days after an unarmed black man was killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, Holder met with citizens there and launched an investigation.

Holder was recently named to lead the newly formed National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

His speech is part of the Winston Center for Leadership and Ethics Clough Colloquium at Boston College.
