Rapper Jay Z plans to headline a concert on behalf of Hillary Clinton in the swing state of Ohio before Election Day.

A Clinton aide confirmed to Buzzfeed on Monday that Jay Z (real name Shawn Carter), will try to mobilize voters for Mrs. Clinton prior to Nov. 8. A date has not been set for the event.

“The concert — perhaps the centerpiece of the ‘closing argument’ strategy built to turn out this group — would be a major coup for the Clinton campaign, which has struggled to excite young black voters,” Buzzfeed reported. “It’s a key part of the coalition they need to build to defeat [Donald] Trump in several battleground states, but especially Ohio where she has trailed more consistently than in most swing states.”

Mr. Carter’s get out the vote effort will coincide with concerts by other artists in the Buckeye State. Ohio natives The National will host a similar show next month in Cincinnati, and Jennifer Lopez will do the same in Miami, Florida, Oct. 29.

Jay Z’s wife, Beyoncé, showed her support for the Democratic hopeful in May 2015 by attending a New York fundraiser. The event was Epic Records CEO LA Reid and raised $1.1 million.

“Beyonce steps out in support of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Campaign Event,” a Twitter fan page posted May 13, 2015, with an accompanying image from the fundraiser.
