WASHINGTON (AP) - A Washington woman took a video of a driver transporting a cat in a humane animal trap strapped to the trunk of a car - a move that she calls animal abuse.

District of Columbia resident Jessica Wright tells WUSA-TV (https://on.wusa9.com/2erk11t) that she saw the cat Saturday while driving on the Beltway. She says she became so mad at what she saw that she recorded a video with her cell phone.

Wright says she followed the car and confronted the driver, who told her that the cat was wild.

Fairfax County Animal Protection Officer Kim England says that while this method of transporting animals isn’t preferred, it’s not necessarily illegal.

She says anyone who is having a problem with feral cats is encouraged to call the non-emergency dispatch number.
