The D.C. Superior Court ruled in favor Monday of The Washington House nursing facility being sold to Sidwell Friends School. First announced Sept. 15, the deal is anticipated to close in December.

According to The Washington Post, residents had hoped to block the $32.5 million sale, claiming the transaction violates a District law requiring a landlord to give tenants right of first refusal before a rental property is sold.

The Washington Home is transitioning patients to other facilities, and at no cost is offering informational and planning visits to the new residences.

The facility provided 15 months notice of the sale, far in excess of the mandated 90 days.

There are less than 25 patients remaining at Washington House.
