DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover Police say a Delaware Probation and Parole officer shot a man after he rammed two patrol cars.

Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman wrote in a news release that on Tuesday afternoon, officers from Dover Police and Probation and Parole saw a man for whom they had an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court.

Hoffman says officers in two patrol cars tried to stop 25-year-old Jamera Fisher as he tried to drive away. Police say Fisher rammed both patrol cars while officers were in them.

Hoffman says when officers got out of their cars, Fisher drove toward them. Authorities say a Probation and Parole officer fired four times, striking Fisher.

Hoffman says Fisher is in stable condition at a hospital. He does not know the race of Fisher or the officer.
