SALEM, Ore. (AP) - State regulators will announce the successful buyer of the Elliot State Forest in December.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/2f4QHj4 ) that the Oregon State Land Board will announce the accepted bit at its Dec. 13 meeting.

The board is asking for $220.8 million for the 82,500-acre, state-owned property near Coos Bay.

Acquisition plans are due Nov. 15. On Nov. 16, the Department of State Lands will publish the names of proposal’s lead participants.

Four dozen entities have formally expressed interest in buying the property, including timber companies, conservation groups, local governments and tribes.
