WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (AP) - Two Contra Costa firefighters have been arrested after having an altercation with police in Walnut Creek.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2dISNnI ) that officers were called to a Marriot Hotel early Sunday, hours after the annual Firefighters Ball ended. Police say the two firefighters and their companions, two women, were intoxicated and belligerent and refused to cooperate with officers.

One of the firefighters proceeded to assault the two officers who responded to the call. Both officers suffered minor injuries.

The man who assaulted the officers was booked into county jail on charges of resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, public intoxication and trespassing. Another firefighter assaulted hotel security during the struggle and was booked on charges of battery, public intoxication, trespassing and obstructing an officer in the performance of their duties.
